Backup fails and no explicit reason given

My backups have just recently started to fail.

The error message that i get from backup exec is:

"0xa00084f4 - An unknown error has occured"

I then checked the event log and found this message:

"An error occured while processing a B2D command, Drive: InitWrite() CreateFile failed (\\servername\B2D\B2D0007.bkf). Error=64"

I am using the backup to disk feature and i know the permissions are correct as it's been working for over 4 weeks now. On monday i applied the SP2 update to veritas to see if that would fix it but no joy. I have looked on the veritas site at knowledge base articles but none of them cover this.

Any help will be most appreciated.

If you go start/run:
\\servername\B2D

Do you get a share window popup? Can you save a file here and confirm the access.

I did what you said and i was able to copy files to that location and create files and save them etc.

RIght i've created a new media set and backup-to-disk folder and new backup jobs to replace the olds ones.

I've started running a backup to the new location and so far it is performing much better. It's nearly completed.
