Backup job caused slowly network access

I have the following scenario.

Server 1: Exchange Server 2003, Shared folder USERS, Backup Exec Remote Agent

Server 2: Backup Exec Server, external USB drive for backup data

Both server are installed Windows Server 2003, all patches up-to-date for Windows and Backup Exec

My problem is once the backup job started, the network users had trouble with accessing shared folder USERS on server 1. If the backup job cancelled, then back to normal. Any ideas?

Thank  you very much!

Try a copy operation from source to media server. Make sure the data that you are copying is comparable to data you are backing up. Then try to access the share and see if that results in the same Issue.

There would be load on the network when you are running the backup and thats why you run backup ideally after buisness hours

Check for the following as well

Admin tools -> Local Security Policy -> Local Policies -> User Rights Assignment.

First item should be ‘Access this computer from the network’ with a security setting that defines the type of users allowed to access the PC. (This may be currently blank, which could be the source of the problem)

Double click item and ‘Add User or Group’.

Click on ‘Advanced…’ button, then choose ‘Find Now’.

Choose “Everyone” from the list, click ‘OK’
Apply the change.

No, copying didn't influence the network access speed
