Backups keep failing. Please Help.

The backup srever is on Windows 2000 Server. One client is on Windows 2000 server and another is on Windows 2003 Enterprise. The tape drive is a VXA-320 and it's BackupExec 10d. I am backing up from my internal network using an internal IP and one system from the DMZ that uses a public IP.

Under job history everything looks ok and everything is completed but under "job Log" it says:
"Final error: 0xe00084f8 - The network connection to the Backup Exec Remote Agent has been lost. Check for network errors.
Final error category: Resource Errors"

and

"Verify- \\xx.xx.xx.xxx\X: DATA
Unexpected end of backup set encountered on EXABYTE 1.
V-79-57344-34004 - End of data set was unexpectedly encountered."

I did everythign listed here:

but it did not help. I really need to get some reliable backups going.

Hi,

Please ensure that the remote agent service is running under Lokal System account on media server as well as the remote SQL server.

Also enable the restrict anonymous support on both the machines with the help of the following dokument:

Restart all the backup exec services on both the servers after having made the changes.

Please download the tcpview utility from the following URL:


http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/TcpView.html

Run it on both the machines to ensure that the beremote.exe is listening to port 10000.

I did everything that you asked and I am now running a full backup on both machines. I will post the results here when the backup is complete.

I did everything that you said but I am still getting errors when the job completes.

This is what the log says:
