Backups suddenly failing - Error E00FE3C

mhcChris
Level 2

BE2010 R3 SP4 with all hotfixes applied.

Ran remote agent install again after SP4 and hotfix applications and installed necessary updates on remote servers.

The error is:

"Before you can back up this resource, you must purchase and install a license key for the appropriate Backup Exec agent. See Job Log for details.

License violation

A Remote Agent for Windows Server license is required for protecting remote servers with this version of Backup Exec."

Last successful backup was Thursday night.

We had to reboot the server that hosts BE on Friday morning due to printing issues, but cannot see that this could have affected it.

Have rebooted the same server twice since in case some servies etc. did not start.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Chris

Try running a repair on the Backup Exec install from Add and Remove Programs/ Programs and Features

Don't have original media on disc which it was asking for so will try uninstalling completely and reinstalling from desktop installer

review the following document before you uninstall and reinstall.  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH73334

as far as the repair  you can go here for the install files  http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH66724

If this continues I recommend that you open support case.

Did you purchase and install the correct number of RAWS licences on your media server?  You need 1 RAWS licence for each remote server and storage devices like NAS.
