Currently our backups go from a 2008 Server to a QNAP NAS with dedupe, then undeduping to an external USB 2.0 drive.
We save 4 weeks for any issues by rotating external drives.
Apparently the USB 2.0 connection is causing more issues but bottlenecking the dropoff backups.
We'd like to get a new system, but we're stuck with what we have.
So my thought is to remove the dedupe on the backups, so it backs up directly to the QNAP without dedupe, then to USB drive. Basically 1:1.
My question is, if an issue arises in a couple weeks, we should be able to pull that drive out we used while we had dedupe on, and pull the backups we need from it without any issues, right?

... then you either just stop backing up to it or delete it.

Ok thanks! That was the main question we had before we did any changes.
Also, do you have a link to disabling dedupe store?

We're using dedupe folder.
