Bad Media

I am usingveritas Backup exec 9.0 version...
I am trying to restore few files from a tape.
When I insert the tape and do Inventory, I get Bad Media..
I cannot catalog to search the files.

I am able to catalog and restore files from other tapes just fine....

Please help me on restoreing critical data from tape...

Was this tape created on this drive?

If so and if other tapes can be read, I'd say that you are out of luck.

A data recovery service MAY be able to get data off, but probably not.

- Please try the steps mentioned in the following Tech Note:

( How to recover data from a tape backup if Backup Exec does not recognize the media)

- Check the event logs for any errors related to media

- Check for event IDs 5, 7, 9, 11, 15 in the Event Viewer .

You can also try Ntbackup to see if you can still read the tape..it is worth a try.
