Morning
We want to find a remote backup solution for our user's data or system files on NAS(Synology) or Samba(CentOS).
We want to backup these files to AWS(S3 or VTL).
So we used BE 15 free trial for PoC.
We had connected to S3 or VTL on BE 15.
We had checked ''Enable selection of user shares" option on BE 15, and add a server by "File Server or NDMP data server" option.
We created a local account(admin) with "Administrators permission" on windows 2012, the same account(admin) on NAS or Samba Server. And we set these 3 accounts the same password.
We had changed the "Account Name" of some BE services (BE agent Browser, BE Device & Media Services, BE Job Engine, BE Management Service, BE Server) to "./admin".
We had changed the "System Logon Account" on "Logon Account Management" to "admin" and set default account.
Then we created a server by "add a server", than we got 'Test failed, Test recommanded' for this server on "Test/edit credentials".
How colud we solve this problem? Thank you!!!!
There are our environment
Backup Server:
OS: Windows 2012 standard
Application: Veritas Backup Exec 15 (Trial Version download from Symantec)
NAS: Synology DS1513+ , Samba Server 4.0 (CentOS 6.6)
Solved! Go to Solution.

The BESA need to have the rights according to this document
http://www.veritas.com/docs/000028683
Ideally, the NAS and the CentOS should join the domain. You should use CentOS 6.7 which is supported. Otherwise, the BE credentials should be added to these devices with full read/write to the entire volume.
