Hello support. I have BE2012 SP1, when I run a backup on VCenter of VM Exchange 2003 SP2 the exception appears.
The GRT Exchange Option doesn't work.
when I try to restore I can't see any data of my Exchange.
If I go to run a backup with the agent Exchange on the server the result is OK, and then I see in the restore tab all meta data of my Exchange Server.
The job is configured with:
Virtual machine = only GRT Exchange
Transporte = NBD
any ideas?
Regards.

Has this ever worked ?
Are you able to see the VMDK during the restore of the VM ?
Ensure that the remote agent on the Exchange server is updated.
Also ensure the following is met :

Also in BE 2012 the GUI is changed.
After you set up an ESX server to be backed up and you choose the GRT option a new server will appear in your GUI; like it was a physical one.
When the server was backup up using the Vmware agent, you can restore GRT files and folders by clicking restore on the new appearing server in the interface as it was physical.
Hope that helps !

Remove the Vmware VSS provider and install the Symantec VSS provider:

Check AOFO In the backup job.
And use System - Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Providers.

Hi, I have set this option. I tried to test without AOFO and with AOFO with option SYSTEM Provider
this optin is set:
Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Server (Windows 2003 and later)
System - Use Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider
Process logical volumes for backup one at a time - Check
Enable checkpoint restart - Check
Virtual machine backup option:
Use the full backup method for virtual machines that do not support incremental or differential backups
Back up virtual machines that are powered off
Use Backup Exec Granular Recovery Technology (GRT) to enable the restore of individual files and folders from virtual machines
Enable GRT for Microsoft Exchange databases and mailbox items on virtual machines - only thisTransport mode priority list - NBD
I don't understand......

Are you able to see the VMDK in the restore job for the entire VM?

Hello theOnkar, in the BE 2012 if I go to VCenter and I want to restore with VMWARE DATA of the VM, I can see the VMDK complete to restore
In the BE 2012 central panel If I go to the server Exchange and I want to restore any file of file system level, I can see the GRT only for files and folders.
If I want to restore exchange data, I CAN'T see the meta data for exchange, the GRT option for Exchange doesn't work.
Regards.

Hi,
Exchange GRT backup with Vcenter4 is possible with Backup Exec 2012.
however there are few pre requisites .
http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO73784
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH55900
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH184449
If your backups are GRT backups then you should be see the server view(file and folder view) in restore . Not only VMDK .
Kindly confirm on the physical disk location you see backups happening as BKF files or IMG00000x folders.
