A Remote Agent is installed on the remote server

what is the remote servers installation OS and i would also recheck your licensing to make sure that your fully licensed to install remote agents. Contact your vendor

As the error is coming from E drive, I suspect that there is a database installed on that drive

Open the properties of backup job and click on>> Resource credentials
See if you are backing up any databases (like Microsoft SQL)

If yes open the selections
>>View selection details
and delete the Database from the text view(because in graphical view it will not show you database

On the remute server  was veritas remote agent (ver 8.6) installed but i have removed it.
Operating system is WIN2003 Enterprise Server Sp2, Sql 2000 Sp3 is installed but the backup job contains only backup files *.bak from DBs.
