hi

I've looked through the forum first but couldnt find an answer so was hoping someone could help me ? Firstly, the system is a Window NT 4 Server, direct SCSI to a HP Surestor DLT 80/110GB, & Veritas Backup Exec 9.1
=============================================

The problem is that regardless of the job type & the amount being backed up, if data's been written to the tape once, any second job that involves overwriting that tape will not work. THe job jungs hangs in the 'loading media' state. However, if you erase the tape, & then re run the job all is well. Ive set the check box to make sure overwriting is enabled & please note this is a freash installation using Veritas's own tape drivers.

If all you want to do is "erase" the tapes there are a couple of ways to do it

1) Inventory, then Label the tapes
2) Inventory, then drag to the scrathc media set

But a better way, is to change the Overwrite protection of the media set so that it has expired when the tape is due to be re-used.
