Hello I have a new server 2008 r2 and for some reason i cant establish a trust to with backup exec 2012 and the server I keep getting an error message
Warning: Unable to reasonably detect which device this job will run to. Different possible outcomes depending on which device this job runs to. Please target a specific device to avoid this conflict.
not sure whats wrong?

...are you trying to do a Test Run?
Have you tried to push-install the remote agent from the media server?

The above warning appears when "Test Run" is enabled and the storage location hasn't been initialized. Use this KB to remove the "Test Run" option - https://support.symantec.com/en_US/article.TECH184218.html
Secondly, do you receive any error when you push install the remote agent (as this automatically establishes a trust) or by manually establishing a trust relationship ?

We cant even get the remote agent to install on the server 2008r2, the message we get is "Error connecting remote registry of sdfs02. Ensure that the current logged in account is not blocked from accessing the remote registry and that the remote registry is available before tryign again" not sure what the issue is can anyone help please

Make sure that the remote registry service is running on the remote machine.
Otherwise, to do a manual installation of the remote agent

Make sure that port 10000 is opened on both the media as well as the remote server.
