Catalog old ver 9 media in 11d

I have an old archive set from 2 years ago and I need to do a restore.

Can 11d catalog and restore data from the media backed up using version 9?

I've been trying to catalog tapes from a 9.x BE install in 11d and the catalog job takes for ever, hangs, and services seem to shut down. I have to restart all services just to get the hanging catalog job to completely cancel.  I do have the "Use Storage Media Based Catlogs" checked.  I am going to try without, but would like to see an answer on this as well.

I've done it in a lab environment.  Yes it works, and yes, it's very slow.  For LTO1 tapes, I estimated 1hr per tape (sometimes less, sometimes more).  Depending on the backup set, it may span a tape before and a tape after - making for 2-3hr catalog times for some tapes.

If you've got a multi-drive library, you can catalog several tapes at a time.

So Im finding out it is   ssssLLL OOOO WWWW   .....

I have a library with 2 drives and it helps but I have 12 LTO2 tapes to catalog. This is going to take forever! And then the fun of restoring Exchange begins once the catslogs finish.... eventually.
