Cataloguing external drives

Hi

I am creating backups onto the drives of a server using Backup Exec 12.5 running on Windows Server 2003. As the server isn't that big, but the backups are, I am then copying these backups on to external network drives. When I try to catalogue these files to recover them, the software says the catalogue was successful, but when I start recovery it reports that it cannot find the files.

Obviously I am doing some part of the process incorrectly. Does anyone have a solution, or does anyone do the same thing another way?

Thanks

Hi LivandMattsDad,

Have you tried searching through the knowledge base for Backup Exec? There may be a how-to article that could help you out. You can get to the KB here: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/overview.jsp?pid=15047

Take a look around there and post back to let us know what you found.

Are you just XCOPYi ng them, or FileManager copying?

Try doing a DUPLICATE job in Backup Exec instead to a B2D device defined on the Network Share
