Clean installation or upgrade over existing BE installation?

Here's what we have:
Windows 2003 R2 Server
BackupExec 10 Rev 5520 QuickStart Edition (OEM - software comes with Quantum LTO2 tape drive)

I can think of 2 upgrade options:

1) Remove (uninstall) BE 10x QuickStart edition then install ver 11d (full version with remote agent + exchange agent)

2) Install version 11d over existing installation

In addition to software upgrade, there will be license changes as well. How should I upgrade? Thanks in advance.

Hello,



You can perform an upgrade to the 11d QuickStart Edition from 10d QuickStart Edition .


Backup exec 11d now uses SQL 2005 Express database and 10d uses Msde as a backup exec instance.

Hence durning the upgrade from 10d to 11d by default backup exec will be installed on the SQL 2005 Express database from Msde.

Hence we would request to start a fresh installation to 11d instead of upgrading to 11d.
