Completed with exceptions

My client does not like this message. His old V8.6 Backup Exec always reported successful backups.

Since installing this new server (a few years ago) and buying V9.1 we get the Exceptions result.

Files are generally DHCP.MDB, J5.LOG, TMP.EDB

Any fix for this?

Kindly refer the following technote link and various steps mentioned below to solve the problem.

Event ID 57755: "Backup Exec Alert: Job Complete Exceptions" is reported when a VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) job completes

A Backup job would report "Completed with exceptions", If a file in use skipped, or a corrupted file was encountered during the operation, then the user will receive this job status.

Regarding the files that you have mentioned like DHCP.MDB, J5.LOG, TMP.EDB,


The "live" Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) database files are locked by the WINS service and unavailable for backup. However, WINS can be configured to make copies of the database which are available for backup by following these steps:

a). Start the WINS Manager, located in Programs | Administrative Tools menu.
b. Go to the Mappings menu bar item, and select Backup Database.
c. Select a directory for the copies. The default is the root directory of the local drive of the system running WINS. A subdirectory underneath the WINS directory is recommended (ie, %systemroot%\system32\wins\backup).
d. Copies of the WINS database and associated files will be replicated to this database every 3 hours.
