Greetings

I have Symantec Backup 11D and Proliant Storageworks Autoloader 1/8 G2, i have tapes HP LTO3 Ultrium RW 800 GB and when i try to backup my files are around 650 GB but when backup has more 500 GB it ask me for another tape, the compression option is enable but i don't know how really works this function to be able to compress the information and able to make backups in one single tape with this volume of information

Your LTO3 tapes are actually only 400GB tapes. You'll only get 800GB on them if your data can be compressed 2:1. Whether this is possible depends upon the type of data you are backing up. It's likely that everything is actually working just fine.
