Compression not working

Backups are not being compressed.

Tape Drive: HP C7438A
Tape Media: C8010A

In the Backup Job Hardware compression is enabled, software compression if enabled produces the same result. Looking at the media statistics:

Total Capacity is 33.6
Compression Ratio is 0.997:1
Media Type: 4MM

I have version 10, upgraded from version 8.6 because of this issue. Latest drivers have been applied.

Found someone else on the forums with a similar issue… currently unresolved

Compression is enabled on the drive.

Hello,

It seems that the same results are acquired with hardware/software compression. Does the device you use,support hardware compression? If yes, what is the data specified after compression?

The device you use, is compatible with Backup exec, but not specifically tested. We wish to know what drivers you are using for the device? Are you using the Veritas drivers or the manufacturer drivers? If you are not using the Veritas drivers, you can get the latest ones at:
