Connection to a Linux Server running RALUS

Hello,

I'm useing BackupExec 12 on Windows and was now trying to backup some Linux Servers.
Installed the Remote Agent without and problems and the service is running on the Linux Servers.
All my Linux Servers are open SUSE 11. What I found on the web was, Port 10000 is used for the communication, and I have checked, communication in both directions on that port is working.

Everytime when I try to set up a new backup job, I browse to the Linux/Unix selection and I can see both Linux server listed.
When I try to select either or I get an errormessage saying :

By trying to browse to HOSTAME an error accurd.
Unable to establish a networkconnection to this server
(translated from German :-))

I can telnet and ssh to the servers, no firewall in place, port 10000 is open... What else can it be?
Any good hints?

Hi there,

Open SUSE is not  officially supported by any version of Backup Exec, and currently I don't think Symantec has any plans to officially add it to the compatibility lists.

Hello Colin,

the agent is working, so maybe there is way.. When I start beremte I get the following in the log.
The last 4 entries are when I try to browse to the linux server from my media server.
Maybe this give someone else a hint.

As RALUS has not been tested on Open SUSE, I am not sure what you are expecting from posting your log - however - it shows the control connection is being made and then a closure of the connection, probably because the operating system is returning something that the program code is not designed for. On a supported operating system the same log would show a data connection being made not long after the control connection.

The result stays the same. I have added the hostname including the dns suffix to the Media Server and can ping the dns name, telnet and everthing else..
Has anyone a good Idea?
