Could not start the backup exec job engine service

Hi everyone,

I have a very weird error that just started up a little while ago.

We use Veritas Backup Exec 10.0 on our Windows Server 2003 Standard box. Everything was working fine (we are backing up daily to a tape) for several months.

A few days ago I checked the job status and noticed that it hadn't run in several days. Checking to see what was up I noticed the backup exec job engine was stopped.

When i try to start it, I get the following error:
Could not start the backup exec job engine service on local computer.
Error 0x8007000e: Not enough storage is available to complete this operation.

I've tried everything I found on this forum regarding this error.

Any ideas?

Hi, as I told before I've tried to apply hotfixes provided from Microsoft(KB913648, KB917638) but the issue still remains. I've tried to istall SP2 for Backup Exec, but everytime I recieving an error. Also an error comes up when I was trying to repair an installiation for Backup Exec.

Be services are running under which account?

What error mesasge you are getting in the event logs while starting the job engine service?

Hi,

Its running under the Administrator account. Also receiving this error message in the event viewer:

The Backup Exec Job Engine service terminated with the following error:
Ran out of memory

Event ID: 7023

Also, it's running Version 10.1 Rev. 5629 Service Pack 1 & Hotfixes 26, 27 & 29

Same problem with a SBS 2003.
Now i can't reinstall, uninstall, patch or do anything to solve the problem.
Installshield always stop telling me that is impossibile to complete the task. In the event viewer the message is "The Backup Exec Job Engine service terminated with the following error:
Ran out of memory "
I have installed MS Hotfixes.
I tried with any privileges, domain admin, administrator, etc...
I also tried to set privileges in the service: system or local account.
I phone to the tech support in my country (italy), but nothing
I spent 2 days searching in this forum, but nothing.

The end of the year is coming soon and I need to restore the backup operations as soon as possible.

Any ideas!?
