Curious issue

I am having the following issues on a server running BE 10.0:

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Does not correctly inventory media

When either a new, blank tape, or an existing tape already on the system is put into the ODS tape drive, the Inventory command always registers that tape as the last tape that the Label command was run on, rather than the actual tape that’s in the drive. This includes not only the tape label, but the Media ID as well.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Inserted tapes are not recognized

Tapes inventoried appear overwritable (both in the Veritas description and by the physical lock position), but during backup or catalog operations are ejected with the “unrecognized media” error, followed by the “insert overwritable media” alert:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/252434.htm

Quick-erasing the media does not in fact make it readable, or recognizable by the system. Long erase operations are impossible (see below). Tape labeling changes what all tapes come up as when an inventory is run, but does nothing for the usability of the tapes themselves.

Interestingly, doing a test run of a backup job works just fine.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

0x45d I/O error

When certain operations, such as “long erase”, are chosen, Veritas returns this error:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/268416.htm
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Cannot install drivers

Noting that the number one bit of advice is "have you installed the new drivers yet," I attempted to install the driver listed here:

http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/278408.htm

This returned an error message indicating that it would only work with Backup Exec 10, and then the install failed. I find this a curious error considering that the server is, in fact, running BE 10...

Hello,
1.http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/278408.htm
This link is for BE 10.0 5520, do you have the revision 5520
installed?
2. Please check if there are event id's 7,9,11 or 15 with source as the device or the scsi card in the system event log.
3.Please use a scsi card since RAID cards are not supported with Backup Exec.
4.Has the device been detected in Windows device manager?Have you checked if the device is compatible with BE.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

1) I'll check the revision number.

2) I'll check that, too.

3) I'll look into the exact hardware.

4) The device is there, is detected by Windows, and was, in fact, working just fine for two and a half weeks before it started going funny for seemingly no reason.

Thanks! I'll try and get back as quick as I can with more info.
