Daily Backup per week per tape basis.

Not applicable

Hi,

I am new to this, and I have been assigned to make backups, we currently have a tape auto loader 7 tapes, managed by BE 2012. each tape is assigned to a day and every week its over written.

I need to be able take daily backup on to a single tape for Week1 and the following week daily backup on to next tape for Week2, the next week daily backup on to a next tape -Week3, and like wise week4. In brief each tape should contain a week of daily backup, which means I will be able to have a comfortable 6 weeks backup, with a tape to spare, as the total data for the week is less than 250GB.

Currently I have only 1 week of retention, I see that the tapes are not being used efficiently. I am clue less on how it has to be done, any tutorial, or steps will be of great help.

thanks in advance

Bob

Hello.

Please take a look at these links in hopes they help.  They reference Backup Exec 2014 and 15, however it still applies to Backup Exec 2012:

Hope these are helpful.
