Deleting backup data after the 'keep for' period has expired.

I have installed Backup Exec 2012 on my server. In the backup jobs, I have designated a certain period of time to keep the backup data. After that period has expired, I was led to believe from the documentation that the data would be deleted. That is not happening and consequentially, I run out of disk space on my backup device. Does anyone know if there's way to have it automatically deleted?

DIsk storage under BE 2012 is managed by DLM, so there are other considerations beyond the retentiion period when it comes to deleting backup sets.  See my article below

As well as info from PKH about DLM, we do also have some known issues if you are using RDX (Removable Cartridge style) storage or USB detachable storage (or in fact any storage that might go offline from the media server)

These known issues are being worked on currently
