Device Driver Installation error

I have sometimes an "The semaphore timeout period has expired" error when i'm backing up to tape.

According to doc id 190598 i have to update my device drivers, so i downloaded the appropriated driver (20050115)

When i'm trying to install on my backupserver i get an install wizard error (after rolback and librarycheck) "wizard was interrupted before the device drivers could be installed etc and run setup again"
It is a windows2003 server.

Do i have the wrong driver package? other solutions?
Thx
Arjan

Hello,

You can try installing the drivers using the Device Configuration wizard
click on tools -wizards-device configuration wizard>next>click on configure devices and then install the Veritas drivers.
You can also install drivers using the tapeinst.exe
Please refer to the following technote
(title) How to install and uninstall VERITAS Tape Device Drivers using Tapeinst.exe utility
http://support.veritas.com/docs/243636
We also recommend you to stop the RSM service if it is running
Hope this resolves the issue

Ok, but how do i use the new drivers, doing what you suggest means i re-use my already used drivers, not the new driver.
No RSM service running.
All backup exec services stopped, not possible to succesfully run BackupExecTapeDeviceDriverInstall_273853.exe
Will try Sp2 aswel.

After installing SP2 (no reboot) I installed BackupExecTapeDeviceDriverInstall_273853.exe again: Installation succeed.
Tape backup is running at the moment, will inform if error occure again.Message was edited by:

Unfortunately the error came back.
Finally i did a firmware upgrade of the msl5026 & tape drive.
Started the job again and it is still running..

Hello,

Refer to the following technotes in order to resolve this error:

Yes thats the way it should be, we close the subject within 2 days... this is a very short period. I understand why but 2 days... hmmm.

My problem is not really solved, we keep on getting errors with BE9.1, but it is workable so you can close the call. We are upgrading to BE10 allready, waiting for LTO tapes before we can configure.

Greetings
Arjan
