Disaster recovery fails

Gert_Albertsson

I tried to perform a disaster recovery in our testsystem.
I applied a default installation of Windows 2003 standard
with the same computer name and ip-number of the server
and then I performed a full backup from tape to this server.
However when I afterwards reboot the server it won't boot and puts up an error message that says
"load needed DLLs for kernel." and there it stops.

I searched the web and found that I guess I must patch the default installation of windows 2003 on the server to the same level as it was when I ran the tape backup that is servicepack 1 and latest servicepacks.

Has anyone else had this problem and can confirm that this is the right way to go?

hi Gert,

It sounds like you used IDR.

Personally, I wouldn' t use it, all it seems to do is cause problems such as this.

Try manually installing your OS, installin Veritas, and then restoring your data.
