Hi,

Do I need to install the Remote Agent for Windows on my Exchange 2003 Server?

I know I don't need it to backup the Exchange BD's, but do I need to install it for backing up the File System, Registry and System State of the Server? Do I need to install the AOFO as well??

Yes, since v9.0, you need a running copy of the Remote Agent running on a remote serverOS machine to connect for flat-file or system state backups

 

As for the AOFO, depends on whether any files (other than Exchange SGs or Public Folders) will be in use during the backups
