I have frequently run into this error when the nightly backup fails. I have seen the technical info on the causes, and it does seem to be somewhat alleviated by using a cleaning tape, but the error returns after about a week. The other strange thing to me is that the backup always stops at 7,685,135 byte count.
I bascially have two questions:
1. How frequently should the tape drive be cleaned? Is it normal for the drive to need cleaning after 5 days? Is this indicative of the tapes deteriorating?
2. What is the significance of the 7,685,135 byte count before the backup fails?
