Error 0xe000fe29 backup up Linux systems

Hi,

Since installing Hotfix 30 both of our Linux backups are failing with the following message :-

Final error: 0xe000fe29 - Authentication failed on connection to the server. Make sure that the user account has the appropriate permissions and that the password was typed correctly.

No passwords have changed. The legacy agent we are using is version 269803.
The information in hosts and resolv.conf is correct.

Can anyone help?

We also tried installing the RALUS agent but we could not make any directory selections from the backupexec console. I believe this may be a license issue?

Hello,

After installing the hotfix, had you reinstalled the legacy Unix agent? If not, reinstall it and then try the backup.
Although you have mentioned that 'The information in hosts and resolv.conf is correct' , you can reverify it as per the steps in the technote below:

Title:Backup of Unix/Linux server fails with error "Final error: 0xe000fe29 - Authentication failed on connection to the server. Make sure that the user account has the appropriate permissions and that the password was typed correctly" even though the logon account has sufficient rights on the Unix/Linux machine

Are you using 10.0 5484, if yes, it will be a better idea to upgrade to 10.0 5520 from the following link:

You need to reinstall all the remote agents after the upgrade.

Hi,

The problem has been resolved. It was actually due to the backupexec default System Logon Account using an old username and password. Once this was reset to an active account with the correct privilages the job ran correctly.

It is strange why all other jobs continued to run without a problem and why it only arose after hotfix 30. Anyway all is well and good.
