Installed the BackupExec v10 on an Windows 2003 Server. Backup jobs are all completed succesfully, except for one message in our server event log.
The network does not contain any Macintosh computers.
What is the problem here? Maybe there is a way to disable the Macintosh options?

Hello,

This error could occur if the "Enable Agents Using AppleTalk Protocol" is checked from Tools > Options > AppleTalk of Backup Exec, and the AppleTalk
protocol is not available or disabled.
If the Backup Exec server is not communicating with any Macintosh computers then the option "Enable Agents Using AppleTalk Protocol" should be deselected.
If the AppleTalk protocol was removed or disabled, Backup Exec setting needs to be refreshed. Go to Tools > Options > AppleTalk, and it will be shown deselected. Click OK to save settings.
Note: It may take more time than normal to open Tools > Options >AppleTalk tab.

Thanks,

We have checked the settings as you described, on our Backup Exec v10 Server.

Unfortunately we cannot find any of the settings you described.
We don't have the options: Tools > Options > " Appletalk or Backup Exec ". We have searched for any other 'Appletalk' Settings but can't find any.

We also checked these settings on our Backup Exec v9.2 Server. There we do find the option 'Appletalk', this one is disabled and so we don't get the error message.

Hello,

Thie error that you are getting is a harmless error message, it crops up due to certain environmental issues that we have not unfortunately been able to replicate as of now.You may actually ignore the error.

Nevertheless we advise you to :

1. stop the Backup Exec Agent Browser service, and when I try to restart it.

2. Give the foll privileges to the backup exec account:

* Authenticate as any user and gain access to resources under any user identity

* Create a token object, which can be used to access any local resources

* Log on as service

* Administrative rights (complete and unrestricted rights to the computer)

* Backup operator rights (provides rights to restore files and directories)

* Manage auditing and security log

3. If this does not help please change the logon account you are using to a new one.

Finally the rror message is gone.
We have checked our configuration of backup exec, made no changes and again saved the configuration.
Now the error message does not appear in the event log of the server anymore.

Thanks for all help.
