i have a customer using an IOMEGA REV disk to backup their data. they are using Veritas 9.1 as their backup software. The disks fill up and will not Overwrite. I have to manually delete files from the disk each month.
I have another customer using Veritas 10. and the same IOMEGA Rev disk and he has no problems.
is there a patch for the 9.1?
Both are using Windows 2003 Small Business Server on HP ML350 servers.

Did you configured the 'Overwrite protection period' and 'Append period' for the media set to which the REV disk belongs ?

Hello,

To use the same media again for a backup that is set to overwrite the media, we need to ensure that the overwrite protection period (OPP) for that media has expired.
To understand this better please refer to the following technotes and try to create your own media sets and set up a media rotation cycle according to the number of media available, the backup retention time needed and frequency, type and size of backups:

1. The basics of Advanced Device and Media Management for VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) for Windows Servers

2. An explanation of the "Overwrite Protection Period" and the "Append Period"

3. How to create a media set in Backup Exec 9.x using the Media Set Wizard

I have followed these instructions to the letter. In fact, i have verified One setup against the Other. The setups are Identical in every detail.
Veritas 10. works fine, 9.1 doesn't.

I am also having the same problem and I have also noticed that the backup times will gradually get longer and longer. They start at about 3 hours and then by the end of the week the are taking 12-13 hours. Any help would be great. I have verified the OPP and append settings are correct. Thanks
