Hi,

I'm trying to perform a granular restore of a mailbox to the user's original mailbox. I get errors when attempting to do this (see below). I'm running Backup Exec 2010 R2 on Windows 2008 SP2 (64bit). The Exchange 2007 Server has SP3, and is also running Windows Server 2008.

The device I'm attempting to restore from is a backup to disk folder located on the Backup Server.

Here are my steps:

  1. Tools > Wizards > Restore Wizards
  2. Browse Down to Exchange server > Storage Group > Date (full backup) > Mailbox Database > Username
  3. On “Select Restore Credentials”, I click “Test All”, and get “Successful”.
  4. Select my Device (Backup-to-Disk Folder 1)
  5. Leave everything else as default.

I immediately get the following errors:

I have tried a number of different things:

  1. I verified that our backup exec service account is a member of the "backup operators" group, and has the "Log on as Batch Job" privilage
  2. I ran a Group Policy Results report on our email server to verify that this policy is taking effect.
  3. I ran an Inventory on my Backup Device which completed sucessfully
  4. Rebooted the backup server

So, at this point, I don't have any more ideas? How can I restore this? Any help is appreciated!!

Update to this: I called Symantec technical support and resolved the issue. The problem was that the backup exec service account password had been changed since the initial install.

I needed to log into the server using the backup exec service account credentials, and then (from Backup Exec) go to Network > Logon Accounts and change the system account login to reflect the current password.
