Exchange 2010 Migration

We have just migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.    Unfortunately we have a couple of Exchange 2003 mailboxes which need to be restored.   Two of them were accidentally removed before the migration started.

I tried restoring to the old 2003 database by redirecting the mailbox to be restored to a new mailbox which was empty.    The restore failed saying the database was either offline or not available on the server.

What would be the best way to restore these three mailboxes?   The hope is to restore them on 2003 and then migrate them to Exchange 2010.   The 2003 server is running Backup Exec 11d.

Do you still have the old Exchange 2003 server running ?

You probably need to configure the Exchange Rovery Storage Group before starting the restore.

As you said you migrated the exchange 2003. Does your exchange 2003 is still mounted and online so that individual mailbox can be restored.

If you had the grt backup then you can restore the individual mailboxes to your exchange. Make sure you have that account still exist on this exchange server which was used to take the backup of your exchange server and should have all the rights to that account.

Once you are sure you have the database mounted and working properly(exchange 2003) you should be able to restore the mailboxes

The old 2003 server is up and running still and I have the last GRT backup from the server.
