Export Command does not complete successfully.

Hi,

I have a Dell Powervault 124T and run Backupexec v10d. Up until recently I could unlock slots by using the export function and then remove the tape manually. Now the job runs and runs but I no longer get the expected media intervention alert to remove media from the slot. When I go to the tapeloader to export I get an error because the slot is locked but if I reboot the lock disappears and I can remove the tape.

I read the article http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH27473 but it was no help to me.

Any ideas what might have changed in my config?

1) make sure there is not an alert that you are missing on the alerts tab.  Maybe the setting got changed so they don't pop up anymore.

2) use the SCSI tracer to see what is going on betweeen BE and your library.

3) Do other utility jobs run?  such as inventory & import?  Possibly pause and unpause the server object in the BE GUI.

Ideally, export jobs should "unlock" the autoloader, though if that's not happening, try to manually "unlock" the library and then run an export. Right-click on the autoloader from the Devices tab and choose Unlock.

Additionally, are you able to export from using the autoloader's UI itself ?

Thanks Larry, the alert was appearing in the alerts tab. I just needed to check the "automatically display new alerts" box in the alert properties.
