Hello,

I have been doing some cleanup and came across quite a few *.fdd files in the Catalogs folder which are large and several months old. What do these files do and can I delete some of them?

They are left over from v8.x and may be deleted

See http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/191281.htm for some addition file types that can be deleted from the Catalogs Dir

Hello,

The Catalog folder is located at following path, C:\Program files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Catalogs.

The contents of this folder can potentially grow to several Gigabytes in size over a period of time.

It contains following files,

1-Files having *.U01 extension.
This refer to the restore selection list.If these files are deleted then you would not see any selections in the restore tab. Then you have to re-catalog the media in the Tape drives.

2-Some temporary files with following extensions,
"*.SM"; "*.FDD"; "QTC*.*"

--------------------

You can Delete these temporary files in the catalog folder and see if the backup job runs. For more details refer this document,
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/230832.htm

Hope this helps you.

Regards
