Well, I suddenly started getting this error backing up the system state on a win2003 domain controller.

I've rebooted, scanned all the disks and restarted all BE services across this system and the system doing the backup. I also enabled debugging.

Basically, after this BE sticks in the "Processing Snapshot" stage indefinitely.

Can someone please help me troubleshoot this further? I've included the debug log (endings)

From the domain controller:
06/06/06 16:09:38 VssSnashotVolume::PrepareToSnapVolumeSet() - done. LastError_: 0
06/06/06 16:09:38 VssSnashotVolume::SnapVolumeSet() - calling DoSnapshotSet.
06/06/06 16:09:38 VssSnashotVolume::SnapVolumeSet() - waiting for snap to complete...
06/06/06 16:10:36 VssSnashotVolume::SnapVolumeSet() - snap complete with hr1: 0

06/06/06 16:10:36 VssSnashotVolume::GetSnapshotProperties() - done. LastError_: 0
06/06/06 16:10:36 SnapshotBackupEngine::snap_file_systems. End. Status: 1
06/06/06 16:10:36 ndmpdSnapshotPrepare2: sending reply...
06/06/06 16:18:09 Detach from \\SERVER5\Shadow?Copy?Components
06/06/06 16:18:09 brUtil::brUtil Destructor
06/06/06 16:18:09 ndmpdSnapshotPrepare2: cleanup: all done

From the BE server:
06/06/06 16:10:31 JobEngine::LaunchJob
06/06/06 16:10:33 ndmpcSnapshotPrepare: adding selection string for device_name: \\SERVER5\Shadow?Copy?Components
06/06/06 16:10:33 ndmpcSnapshotPrepare2: selection string: "\\SERVER5\Shadow?Copy?Components\*.*",s,v0,t0,l0,n0,f0
06/06/06 16:25:31 DeviceManager: timeout event fired
06/06/06 16:25:31 DeviceManager: processing pending requests
06/06/06 16:25:31 DeviceManager: going to sleep for 900000 msecs
06/06/06 16:40:31 DeviceManager: timeout event fired
06/06/06 16:40:31 DeviceManager: processing pending requests
06/06/06 16:40:31 DeviceManager: going to sleep for 900000 msecs

Now it sits indefinitely. Even cancel doesn't work, I have to restart the services.
Thanks for any ideas.
To recap, I've done the reboot, network testing, scan disks, etc.

Hello Jason,
Could you tell us:
- What all is being backed up here?
- In the debug log you have pasted here the Problem seems to come on shadow copy components ONLY. Could you please confirm that by checking the whole Debug Log?
- We assume this is a Remote Backup. Are there any other Servers getting backedup in the same Job?
- Are you backing up any Databases in the same Job?
- You said the Problem occured suddenly. Could you tell us if anything was changed/Updated on the System?
