HELP backup Exec 10d does not recognize my dell powervault md1000

Hi All,
We have just installed our 1st backup exec server on dell 2950 server running window server 2003 R2 which has a dell powervault md1000 attached to it. When running backup exec for the 1st time, it fails to recognize the storage device (dell PV MD1000). Please help me.

Hi,

Check whether you are able to inventory the tape.

Check whether the device is compatible with Backup Exec.

Which version of Backup Exec are you using?

The MD1000 is a disk array. Provided you have the MD1000 storage available as a disk that can be seen by Windows, is it not a case of setting up backup to disk folders on the array?
There should be no need for BE to recognise the MD1000 as a device in its own right.
