HOW TO BACKUP HYPERV VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT

Hi,

i actually have a backup exec 2012 server and i have a virtual environment on Hyperv on the same server which is running lotus on Win2008 os.

The latter has an agent installed.I would like to backup the virtual environement and be able to restore it ,shall it fail.

I would use the hosting server to make the backup but i will need to have the server shut down.

For this i will need to use pre/post commands.

Any idea how i shall do this or a better idea how i shall proceed with this kind of backup.

Thanks

Hi If you have virtual agent license then when backing up the host you can backup the virtual machine even when they are powered on no need to shut down the virtual machine and backup them. With virtual agent you can backup then in powered on state and gives you feature to do GRT backup were you can restore individual file from the virtual machine while doing restore http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO74442 http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH179363 Thanks

Hello there,

You need to have the Agent for VmWare and Hyper-V license for Backup Exec 2012. Install this license key in Backup Exec and it will detect the Hyper-V server in your environment (you can also add it manually if not detected)

Then you can configure the job to backup all the VMs hosted on the Hyper-V host.

Thanks,
