Level 3
I have this configuration:
-BackupExec for Windows Server 11d
-one HP StorageWorks SSL1016 library with 16 slots, one Picker, mail Slot and one Drive.

I want the media to be ejected at the of backup Job. Therefore, i set this option in backup job and i checked in properties of that job and looks well.
The problem is that when i checked this morning the media was NOT ejected...What I did wrong?
regards,

If yo manually select a tape from a single slot and send an eject command from within Backup Exec, is it successful?

I tried to do this from BEWS console but "Eject Media " option is grayed out. I mean that when i click on a tape under Slots(Robotic Libraries->HP1-------HP1
                                                           +----Slots   )
i cannot selesct Eject Media option.
pls advice.

It sounds like there may be a communication problem with the library arm. I'd recommend that you shut down the server and the library. Restart the library, and allow it to fully initialize before restarting the server. Verify that the SCSI BIOS detects the library and drive correctly during startup. Once back to the desktop, check Windows device manager to confirm that the library and drive are detected correctly there.

If these steps still do not allow an eject function, check the System Event Log for any errors on either the tape hardware or the SCSI controller

We did this and are still getting same behaviour.
The only thing i havenoticed is that when we do an inventory of tapes at the end of this process we get few Red Alerts like this(which are also logged into EventLog):
Event Type: Error
Event Source: adpu160m
Event Category: None
Event ID: 15
Date:  3/4/2008
Time:  10:05:20 AM

Thanks for the update. Per the following:

"Event ID 15 indicates that the device is not ready. This can be the result of SCSI host adapter configuration issues or other problems. Check with the manufacturer for updated firmware, drivers, or known issues. This could also indicate a malfunctioning device. This error occurs at the device level.

In almost all cases, these messages are being posted due to hardware problems with either the controller or, more likely, a device that is attached to the controller in question. The hardware problems can be associated with poor cabling, incorrect termination or transfer rate settings, lazy or slow device responses to relinquish the SCSI bus, a faulty device, or, in very rare cases, a poorly written device driver.
