I have a Microsoft Windows/Exchange 2003 server which I recently upgraded from BackupExec 10d to BackupExec 12.5. I did not want to lose my existing jobs, so I went from version 10d to 11d (which I had received a key for a long time ago but never used) to 12.5.
When I used version 10d, my log files were typically around 60KB in size. Since the upgrade, they are about 300MB each. When I try to look at one of them, I receive the error "Illegal xml character" in a "Job Log Display Error" window.
The byte count on my jobs looks reasonable, so I think that I am getting backups. I just can't look at my log files.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Don't now about the "Illegal xml character" but for the logfile size verify that "summary only" is selected for the smallest logs
See http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/299072.htm

Thanks Ken. I should have mentioned that Summary Only is selected.

Hi
Let me know if it gives you the error only for the failed job s or for all .
Also be sure that you have all trhe updates installed for BE .
You can also try uninstalled and reinstalling MsXml from the link
