I followed the best practices for setting up a Exchange 2003 restore server outlined in this article:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/298300.htm in order to restore public folders from a now decomissioned mail server.
When trying to do the actual restore BE complained that this was the incorrect server though and wanted the original server, despite using redirection, so I figured that I must have misunderstood something.
I am now in the process of setting up a new restore server but I want to be sure that I do it the right way so that I don't have to spend more time on doing it all over again.
Is there a more in-depth article about setting up a restore server for Exchange 2003? We are only interested in the public folders.
We are currently running Exchange 2007 on our mail server.
Any and all help is appreciated.
