How to setup Inventory device

I replaced tape drive on IBM server. The previous device name was IBM1. After the tape drive was replaced device names are IBM1 and IBM2.

When I run inventory on IBM1 I get device not online error, which is understandable.

How do I remove the inventory device IBM1 and replace it with inventory device IBM2?

Remove the libray, add it back and see if it detects a single drive. 

If not works, try deleting the drive. Right click on drive name and click on delete. If delete option is grayed out, then only editing the BEDB is the only way to remove the devices.

...an even easier way to do this is simply to rename the device back to IBM1...

Or delete and recreate the Inventory job...it's going to be a lot less hassle than editing out entries in the BEDB as advocated, considering something can go horribly wrong if you don't know exactly where you need to edit out!

Go to the BE installation directory and use tapeinst.exe to delete your old IBM1.  After deleting IBM1, just use IBM2 for all your jobs, including inventory.
