Huge byte count on linux backup

Beverly
Not applicable
We are running backup exec 12 on a windows 2003 server.  We have put the agent for linux on our Redhat rel 4 server (64bit).

After deselecting some of the linux folders - I got the backup to work (sorta).

The linux server has about 75GB of data with drivespace of about 175GB.

The byte count on the backup was 1,315,799,985,459 - which is considerably more than the amount of data it's backing up.   It also took about 8 hours to do that backup.

Is there something I need to set somewhere, so that it only backs up the 75GB??  Or do I have the wrong agent?

Thanx in advance for any help :)
