IBM Ultrium TD3 is auto ejecting tape drive?

Hi Guys,

We have an IBM Ultrium TD3 hooked up to our dell server running Backup Exec 11d.
For some reason it randomly decides to eject the tape tray so our nightly differentials have not been completeing.

Im fairly new to all this but I know that it had been working fine in the past, and no one has made any changes.

Out nightly differential is between 20 - 30GB and the weekly is only 350ish GB. Don't know is this helps but thought I would put it in.

Thanks for all your help guys,

I look forwars to a reply

When it does this, is there an alert to "insert overwriteable media"  Sounds like the tape is filling up.  Is your job Append or Overwrite?

Its set to append, terminate if no media present.

Ive had a chat with my site engineer and we may have to look into whats being backed up.

Tjhe problem is im located in sydney (aus) and the sire with the issue is in newcastle.

In that case it sounds like BackupExec is filling the tape up.
