Incremental Exchange 2010 backup ?

Hi,

The person who is responsible for backup (Symantec Backup Exec 2012) says that the fastest way to backup Exchange 2010 is to make a full backup every day ! The person says that an Incremental Exchange 2010 backup is slower than a full backup !! I thought that Incremental was much faster than full backup !

I'm responsible for Exchange, not the backup, that's why I ask !! :)

The Exchange is Exchange 2010 with all updates. About 500GB data and about 500 mailboxes.

Incremental backups can be longer than a full backup.  When you do a full backup, BE just backs up everything.  With incremental backup, BE will have to examine each item to determine whether it needs to be backed up.  This extra processing takes time.
