Installed evaluation version but backups always fail (V-79-57344-4617)

Hi,

We are evaluating Symantec backup exec as possible software to use with our new Rev Disk backup system. On the first run through the backups failed with an error relating to needing MAPI software for Exchange. I duly downloaded this from the Microsoft Website and now the backup gets further but always fails in the middle with the error:

V-79-57344-4617

Final error: 0xe0001209 - The backup-to-disk folder or the path for staging temporary data on the media server must be on an NTFS volume. Check the job log for details.
Final error category: Resource Errors.

Everything is formatted NTFS except the REV disk itself which I presume is formatted in some kind of proprietory format. As I choose the Rev disk option in backup exec I assume it can write to these disks?

Many Thanks for any info.

- Dean

Not necessarily. It would ship either with it's own file table system, or be RAW data and unpartitioned.
Are you able to format that disk at all?

It looks like backup exec is writing to the disk ok - screenshot below shows what the disk is like after backup exec fails mid way.

It always seems to stop at around 38GB with the qouted error code. I am bemused!

You could try the B2D test tool to see if it shows any problems
