Is it still being backed up

Currently, I'm trying to resolve an issue with one of our Healtcare software providers. While we are working on this issue, it causes the Job Status to say Fail.

When this happens, I get like 10 people coming to me saying that the backup failed and they are all worried about it. This isn't so bad except that while we are working on this issue, the backup will fail about 3 times a week.

So, my question is... Is there still a backup created with just some files that were skipped. Or was there no backup created at all?

You have to look in the Job Log to find out what caused the failure

IF you open the Restore Selections Pane and select Media View, anything you can see under the tape volume involved will be restorable, provided there are no IconOverlays

FAIL, usually means the back hit a unrecoverable error of some kind and was forced to stop. data backed up before the error would be good, and even after the error if only one server was failed (as opposed to the whole job failing).

if this is a recurring problem specific to one server, consider moving that server to the end of the resource order in the job settings. it would allow you to get more of the data before the failure, or, in the event of the error staying in the same relative place after moving the resource order, eliminate that server as the source of the error.

as mentioned, check the log (or, perhaps better, post the whole error here so we can help).

Hello Chris,

Is it a backup or a restore?

Is it local or remote?

It would be better if you would let us know the exact error message?

I have noticed that if there is a size in the size column then that data was backed up, maybe not all of it but at least some. If there is a size of 0 KB in the Job Monitor then it completely failed.

Allow me to assume you are getting a failure because a particular file is in use. In this case, you may wish to look into:
