I found a good article that explained how to set up my backup to disk, and then to tape option.
I set up a share on a server (as a test) and made sure that it was able to be seen by BE 2010. Created my backup to disk, accepted all the default properties, and then created my policy.
When I run a test, I'm getting:
Credentials Check Device : \\COMBOIFS01.ics.idaho.gov, \\COMBOIFS01.ics.idaho.gov\dept$ Check status : Success Device : \\COMBOIFS03.ics.idaho.gov, \\COMBOIFS03.ics.idaho.gov\dept$ Check status : Success Device : \\COMBOIFS01.ics.idaho.gov, \\COMBOIFS01.ics.idaho.gov\home$ Check status : Success |

I'm new the backup to disk feature, so any help would be appreciated.......

Are you sure the SHARE permissions on dept$ is configured with Changed rights for the BE Service account ?
02-03-2011 10:39 AM
I'm not sure I understand your comment/question.....can you clarify?
02-03-2011 11:13 AM
On server: COMBOIFS01 you have created a share dept$ to write your backup to, can you please check hte permisions of this share if it is configured for read/write or Full Control for the Backup Exec service account.
Normally when you create a share (with Windows 2008) it is shared to everyone, but only read access.
02-03-2011 11:28 AM
Actually COMBOIFS01 is the server I'm trying to back up, not write the backup to.
That would be another server, and yes, I did add the service account with full permissions.
02-03-2011 01:05 PM
Ah sorry, my mistake.
For some reason BE is unable to write to your backup2disk folder.
Can you explain your setup a bit more in detail ?
(where is you B2Disk folder located)
02-03-2011 01:09 PM
Please note there is also a B2disk test tool:
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH69107
02-03-2011 01:09 PM
I have the backup to disk set up on another one of my servers, so its listed as \\comboiwb03\ with a directory called BE_Staging shared out, and the service account has been given access to the share with full permissions.
02-03-2011 01:16 PM
As a test, can you make a B2D folder on your Backup Exec Media server and try if that works fine ?
02-03-2011 01:18 PM
I was just getting ready to mention that I tried it on the folder on the same machine that BE is running on, and had the same error....
02-03-2011 03:55 PM
Well, I ran the test tool, and here's what it came back with. It appears that it SHOULD be working except for 1 failure, so I'm confused as what to do next........

Hi wingnut,
Any update here?
Is your issue resolved?
Regards...
02-08-2011 07:54 AM
Yep, all seems to be working ok now, backups are being sent to the 2nd server's hard drives, so that's a good thing......we'll see what happens when the "append" happens tonight......
02-08-2011 08:47 PM
Cheers Mate...
