There are no jobs displayed in the Job History view. All filters are disabled i.e. they are set to show all items.

All the files appear to be in the Veritas folder.

Also I got the following error when attempting to Inventory last night's tape:

Utility Job Information
Slot Barcode Media Label Status Bad media Tape Alert Information ----- TapeAlert Events -----

Warning - A severe error occurred while reading or writing data. This job may not have been successfully completed.
Robotic Library:
Drive: SONY 1
Slot:

Critical - The tape is damaged or the drive is faulty. Call the tape supplier helpline.
Robotic Library:
Drive: SONY 1
Slot:

I need to be able to recover the job histories and determin if the tape/drive is actually at fault.

Hello,

As these are different issues, we suggest you open a separate thread for each.

- For the job logs not being displayed is there any error?
- Are the job logs present in X:\Program Files\VERITAS\Backup Exec\NT\Data folder?

Hi, I'll start a new thread for the tape warning.

In answer to you questions:
No, there were no errors.
The job logs are present in the Data folder.
Is it possible to recoverthe job histories database?
We have recent backups we can restore from but we don't know how to recover the database. Is there anything in particular that needs to be done in order to recover the database or it is just a question of restoring the data folder from a backup?
I have performed a database consistancy check and 0 errors were found.

Hello,

As a preliminary step we suggest you to install the SP3 for BE v9.1.

refer the following link:-
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/278302.htm

and verify the result.

Checking Veritas Updates I get the following message:

Product Updates
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Product: VERITAS Backup Exec for Windows Servers, Version 9.1

No updates are available for this product.

Service Pack 3 was installed 5 days prior to the job histories being lost.

I suggest you to get in touch with the email support of Veritas BEWS to resolve your issue. You may have to start testing the situation using a blank backup exec database.

But before that if you have a backup of the BEDB(backup exec database), will you try restoring your BEDB from one of your BEDB.baks?
Use Beutility to dump your database:
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/268315.htm
Then reload your BE database using Beutility from backup.

Regards,
Ashutosh

According to the Veritas website there is no email support for 9.1. It is all done through the forums...
