Large notification attachments(26mb!)

Hello,

In the past week we have been receiving very large notification emails from our Windows 2000 server runnning BE9.1 rev 4691. They have been down to the 26mb attachment, this has only recently occured and it seems to be down to the job log containing a list of everything backed up whereas it just used to say basic details, backup is successful, so not the cause for it to list everything being backed up. Has anyone else seen this problem or able to help?

Hi,

The job log is also sent along with the notification if Backup Exec is configured to do so.........

Go to "Job Setup" and double click on the job. Go to "Notification" option and check whether the option "Include job log with a notification to an email or printer recipient" is selected....

If so uncheck it and verify the results.

NOTE : If we do not receive your reply within two business days, this post would be marked ‘assumed answered’ and would be moved to the ‘answered questions’ pool.

As i previously said, it is the job log causing the problem in that it suddenly is 20MB whereas used to only be around a couple of meg. And the cause seems to be it is listing every single file backed up under Backup Set Detail Information. we never used to have this problem and run many backups for other clients and have not had this problem anywhere else, is there a way to edit what should be shown in the job log??

Set the logging level to Summary rather than detail

Thank you very much Ken, this resolved the problem.
