Mail Security Backup

I recently installed Symantec Mail Security on my Exchange box, and 90% of the time it is failing the backup due to errors like, 'Directory not found. Cannot backup directory \Program Files\Symantec\SMSMSE\4.6\server\bm_ruleset.***********' and then the rest of the file name. Prior to this It was giving errors for files within these folders so I excluded those files, brightmail_ref.*******. Which didn't help as it is now giving errors on those folders. So what is the recommended solution on these files, should I be excluding the brightmail files, or is there another solution.

Hi,

Refer the documents given below :

"Directory or File was not found, or could not be accessed" (a00084af HEX or e00084af HEX) is reported when a backup job using the Advanced Open File Option fails.
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/261831.htm

A backup operation fails with the error message: "Directory not found. Can not back up directory <\directory> and its subdirectories" or "The directory is invalid."
http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/207001.htm

Update us on the same and revert for any further Query
Hope this will help you

Thank you
Gauri

Hi,

I also have the problem and none of the documents have helped me.

Have made global excludes, but for some reason they stop working after some time.

BUT, I also have an installation with SMSMSE 5.0, and there I have not yet seen any problems.
