Manually added Windows Systems doesn't appear in the Selection List

On a new implementation I'm working on I can't get backup of workgrup servers to work.

The thing is:

  • The media server are located in a internal zone
  • A couple of Workgroup servers are located in DMZ
  • Cisco ASA 5520 are separating the two zones
  • BE is setup so that it uses a series of 25 TCP port + the standard 10000 port. These ports are opened in the firewall
  • Agents are manually installed on the Workgroup servers
  • Telnet both ways to port 10000 is working correctly

When I add the system in the Selection Lists I get a sucessful message but the system doesn't appear. I'v waited for several days, restarted the servers, set the publishing interval to 1 minute ++

We have several of theese implementations for other customers without theese problems.

Any thoughts?

Is not this supposed to be a moderated forum?

Symantec in a nutshell:

  1. Impossible to call to
  2. Impossible to mail to (try and get directed to this forum)
  3. Impossible to use the Enteprise Support Agreement we've paid for

Petter!

I have escalated your thread to the Backup Exec support team and someone should be answering to you question sometime soon. So, check back later.

Thanks,

Hi Petter,

First of all, is the agent correct installed on the remote servers?
Is the "publish" option enabled? and if yes, have you entered the correct BE server (ip or FQDN)? Do the remote servers ping the BE server?

Second,
Read the following article about the ports should be openned in the firewall for accurate communication:
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/285830.htm

Third,
Do you have any AV/FW installed on the servers like SEP11 or Symantec AV?

Regards,
Nikos
